Construction Nurse Call Systems Designed For Your Site
Every construction site has its own layout, risk profile, and operational practices. Orisent’s wireless nurse call system is designed to work with your site: your team determines where devices are located, how they are mounted, how the system is managed, and which platforms it connects to. From a single construction site to a multi-stage project, the system is configured to your requirements from the outset and adapts as the project progresses.
Built for active construction environments
Construction sites are high-risk environments. Layouts change as projects progress, work areas expand and contract, and workers and subcontractors shift from week to week. Orisent’s wireless nurse call system is designed to operate within these conditions.
The system can be managed by safety personnel and multiple stakeholders: the HSE manager, a site supervisor, or the electrical contractor engaged by your project team. The on-site Touchscreen Control Unit, smartphone app, and web-based user portal give your team full visibility and control as soon as the system is installed.
Trusted across more than 1,000 sites in Australia and with over 15,000 devices installed, Orisent has been deployed across construction, fitout, refurbishment, and demolition projects in every state and territory.
Every project type has its own demands
No two construction projects look alike. New builds, fitouts, refurbishments, heritage restoration works, civil projects, and demolition sites each present their own layout constraints, access restrictions, and safety requirements. Orisent’s experience across all of these project types means those nuances are already built into the system.
Place devices where your site demands them
Your team retains full control over device placement. Most operators position devices in high-traffic areas near other emergency equipment such as first aid stations, eye wash kits, and earplugs, or at easily identifiable locations such as stairwells, break rooms, and lift entries and exits. As work areas and worker access change, your team consults the site’s operational plans and moves devices accordingly. Orisent’s team can provide advice on system layout and device placement.
Devices can be installed in locations that best support your site’s operational and safety requirements while maintaining reliable wireless communication across the system. Nurse call triggers are supplied pre-mounted on a lightweight, high-visibility aluminium backboard with pre-drilled holes, ready for installation with screws, nails, or cable ties. At less than 600g, the nurse call triggers can also be secured using double-sided tape. Where the backboard is not required, the trigger can be mounted directly to a safety briefing wall, temporary post, or purpose-built first aid trolley or stand, according to the requirements of each location.
Scale up as your project grows
As your site expands from groundworks and substructure to rough-ins and internal fitout, the nurse call system grows with it.
Adding devices to an existing Orisent system is straightforward. New nurse call triggers join the existing network without reconfiguring what is already in place. To add a device, the operator powers up the unit, adds it to the system via the Touchscreen Control Unit, positions it on site, and confirms its connectivity to the network. Once the position is confirmed, the trigger is assigned a level and location, for example, Level 6, Smith Street Stairwell. Devices already installed continue operating exactly as before, without disruption to system functionality or project timelines.
For sites managing multiple connected work zones, all devices operate as a single wireless nurse call system, monitored and managed from one Touchscreen Control Unit or the smartphone app. This provides your team with a unified view of the entire system, regardless of how many devices are on the network or how widely dispersed the site is.
Choose how your team manages the system
Sites and teams have their own preferences for how they manage a nurse call system, and Orisent provides the tools to manage the system accordingly.
The Touchscreen Control Unit is the on-site control panel: it displays the status of every device on the network in real time, receives all nurse call alerts, and enables your team to respond to and add new devices within minutes.
For teams requiring a portable solution, the Orisent smartphone app extends the same real-time view to any iOS or Android device. Site managers, HSE managers, and supervisors can monitor the system, receive alerts, and manage events from anywhere on-site or off.
The web-based user portal adds system management features beyond the Touchscreen Control Unit and smartphone app. From the portal, your team can set up integrations with HammerTech, Procore, and Irongate Solutions, configure email notifications for proactive system management, and view telemetry graphs to track device connectivity. It also manages user access for the app and portal, providing control over permission levels, as well as reporting and device management across the system.
These tools can be used in any combination to provide full system visibility by project, region, or company.
Add wearables and evacuation management when your site needs them
A wireless nurse call system covers the project, but lone and remote workers (crane operators, small isolated teams, night shift workers) require protection that extends beyond fixed device locations. Orisent’s wearable extends the same nurse call functionality to individual workers, worn as a pendant, on a lanyard, or on the wrist, according to individual preference.
When a worker presses the button, the alert transmits to the rest of the system via the user’s mobile phone or the nearest enabled Orisent device. As with an Orisent nurse call trigger, responders choose to accept or decline the alert, keeping responses coordinated.
Construction sites can also extend their system to cover evacuation events, adding evacuation triggers, evacuation sirens, or combined nurse call and evacuation siren units to the same network. This provides a single system covering both medical and evacuation emergencies, operating alongside the site’s existing emergency plan.
RF as standard, cellular where required
Orisent’s wireless nurse call system uses radio frequency to form a local communications network across the site. The network adapts as the layout changes and devices are added or repositioned. For most construction sites, this provides sufficient coverage across every work zone.
Where radio frequency is not the optimal solution, for example on sites spanning a large area or with work zones too far apart to maintain a reliable connection with the primary system, Orisent’s cellular-connected devices provide an alternative. Cellular nurse call triggers connect directly to Orisent’s cloud server rather than the local radio frequency network, so each device operates independently of the others. They do not impact the functionality of devices already on the network.
Sites can run entirely on cellular or combine cellular and radio frequency devices within the same system to achieve optimal coverage. In either configuration, Orisent provides the tools required to manage the system from any location.
Integrates with the platforms your team already uses
For construction sites already running HammerTech, Procore, or Irongate Solutions, Orisent connects directly to each, working with the safety technology your team relies on.
HammerTech and Procore handle reporting and data synchronisation. At the end of each day, the system automatically sends a full report to the project’s site diary, capturing when an alert was triggered, who was alerted, and how the response unfolded. That record supports post-incident review and identifies opportunities to improve response processes.
Irongate Solutions handles site access. If youโve incorporated evacuation functionality to your Orisent system, all site gates open and turnstiles switch to free spin automatically when an evacuation is triggered. When the evacuation ends, all access points return to secured status.
Ensure Your Nurse Call System Meets Your Requirements
Construction sites change quickly, and the nurse call system protecting your team needs to match that pace. Orisent’s wireless nurse call system provides flexible device placement, scalable coverage, multiple management tools, wearable protection for lone and remote workers, and direct integration with the platforms your team already relies on. Your team retains full control from the outset.

FAQs
What types of construction environments is Orisent’s wireless nurse call system suited to?
Orisent’s wireless nurse call system has been deployed across new builds, fitouts, refurbishments, heritage restoration works, civil projects, and demolition sites across Australia. Each project type presents its own layout constraints and safety requirements, and Orisent’s experience across all of these means those nuances are already built into the system.
How are nurse call triggers mounted on a construction site?
Triggers are supplied pre-mounted on a lightweight, high-visibility aluminium backboard with pre-drilled holes, ready for installation with screws, nails, or cable ties. At less than 600g, the trigger can also be secured using double-sided tape. Where the backboard is not required, triggers can be mounted directly to a safety briefing wall, temporary post, or purpose-built first aid trolley or stand.
Can devices be added to the system as the site grows?
Yes. New triggers join the existing network without reconfiguring what is already in place. The device is powered on and added via the Touchscreen Control Unit, then positioned and assigned a level and location. Every device already part of the system continues operating exactly as before.
Who can manage the Orisent nurse call system on site?
This is determined by the site: options include the safety team, the HSE manager, the site supervisor, or the electrical contractor engaged by the project team. The Touchscreen Control Unit, smartphone app, and web-based user portal give your team full visibility and control.
What is the difference between the Touchscreen Control Unit, the smartphone app, and the web-based user portal?
The Touchscreen Control Unit is the on-site control panel: real-time device status, alert receipt, and event response. The smartphone app extends that to any iOS or Android device, on site or off. The web-based user portal adds integrations, email notifications, telemetry graphs, user management, and reporting across the system.
Does Orisent’s system integrate with HammerTech or Procore?
Yes. To facilitate reporting and data synchronisation, Orisent automatically sends a full report to the HammerTech and Procore site diary at the end of each day.
What happens if part of a site is too far from the rest of the radio frequency network?
Orisent’s cellular-connected devices cover locations that sit apart from the primary network. Cellular triggers connect directly to Orisent’s cloud server, so each device operates independently. Sites can utilise cellular nurse call triggers or combine cellular and radio frequency devices to reach locations the local network cannot.
Can the system cover both nurse call and evacuation events?
Yes. The system can be extended with evacuation triggers, evacuation sirens, or combined units on the same network, providing a single system that covers both medical and evacuation emergencies alongside the site’s existing emergency plan.
