About Orisent

Orisent is an Australian designer and manufacturer of wireless emergency alert systems for high-risk workplaces. Orisent’s systems deliver rapid alerts, coordinating a site’s emergency responders and driving fast, decisive communication when it matters most. Founded in Sydney, Australia, and formerly known as Vanguard Wireless, Orisent designs, builds, and supports wireless evacuation, nurse call, duress, and environmental monitoring systems, ready for a site team to set up the day it arrives, with no cabling and no specialist installers. Devices form their own proprietary RF mesh network, engineered to deliver full coverage in basements, tunnels, remote camps and dense structures, the conditions the system was purpose-built for. It integrates with the platforms sites already run, including HammerTech, Procore, Mitti (SafetyCulture), and Irongate Solutions. Since launching its first commercial system, Orisent has installed more than 16,000 devices across over 1,200 sites, including construction projects, civil works, mines and mining camps, schools, farms, medical centres, aged care homes, factories, wharves and manufacturing plants.

What does Orisent do?

Orisent’s systems facilitate rapid alerts, coordinating the business’ emergency responders and ensuring efficient site communication.

The hardware includes triggers, sirens, wearables, environmental sensors, and a touchscreen control panel. The software includes the embedded operating system, a smartphone app used by more than 7,000 people, and a web-based portal. Wireless and modular by design, the system lets a site team unpack the equipment, place devices to ensure full site coverage, and manage the system autonomously. No cabling, no specialist installation trades, and no delays: the Orisent emergency alert system is operational as soon as it’s installed.

Orisent was built to solve a real problem on construction sites: safety systems that keep pace with a site’s own schedule. We designed a wireless, modular hardware and software solution, self-managed and significantly improving on-site safety from day one.

We launched our first commercial system in 2017 and have since installed more than 16,000 devices across over 1,200 sites, including construction projects, civil works, mines and mining camps, schools, farms, medical centres, aged care homes, factories, wharves and manufacturing plants.

A construction project evolves daily, and the emergency alert system must evolve with it: devices are easily relocated or added as the build progresses, without electrical rewiring or downtime. Because devices form their own proprietary RF mesh network, full coverage extends into basements, tunnels, remote camps and dense structures as the site grows around them. Alerts reach the whole site in seconds, and the portal holds a complete, timestamped record, on hand the moment you need it.

Was Orisent previously Vanguard Wireless?

Yes. Vanguard Wireless became Orisent in June 2023. It is the same Australian company, the same team, the same Alexandria facility and the same emergency alert system, under a name that reflects a business now working well beyond its original construction market. The legal entity remains Vanguard Wireless Pty Ltd, trading as Orisent. Existing systems, warranties, support arrangements and integrations are unaffected.

How does Orisent work with sites?

Each system is tailored to your site’s layout, emergency plan, and risk profile before it ships. Plug-and-play configuration means Orisent emergency alert systems are affordable, fully customisable, and ready on day one.

Most engagements start with one site and a conversation about the emergency plan: what has to be alerted, who must respond, and how to obtain full site coverage. Orisent designs a system to match, ships it configured plug-and-play, and the business’ HSE team deploys it. Because the platform is modular, customers scale by adding units rather than replacing the system. Orisent supports the system managers directly with online and phone technical support, video guides, printable posters, and regular communications.

Key benefits include:

  • Wireless connectivity, using a proprietary RF mesh network that doesn’t depend on site Wi-Fi, mobile coverage or any existing infrastructure to work.
  • Integration with third-party platforms including Mitti (SafetyCulture), HammerTech, Procore and Irongate Solutions, supporting the systems a site already uses.
  • User-friendly interfaces allowing real-time monitoring and management on and off-site.
  • Modular designs that can be customised and scaled according to site requirements.

Who does Orisent work with?

Orisent systems were co-developed with Tier 1 building companies and are installed on construction sites, civil projects, mines and mining camps, hospitals and medical centres, aged care homes, schools, farms, factories, wharves and manufacturing plants. Buyers are typically WHS, HSE and safety managers, site and project managers, facility managers and procurement leads.

Today, Orisent systems protect more than 1,200 sites, with over 16,000 devices installed and more than 7,000 people using the Orisent smartphone app. Customer names are not published, out of respect for site security, but anonymised case studies show what these deployments look like in practice across each of these industries.

Feedback shapes the roadmap no matter how a site purchases the system, directly or through a reseller, trade account or distributor. A request raised by a partner or by a customer directly goes to the same team that designed and built the product, and improvements roll out to every customer, not just the one who asked.

Where is Orisent based?

Orisent is headquartered in Alexandria, Sydney, Australia, where systems are designed, tested and undergo final quality control. Systems are currently deployed across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, with expansion underway into Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, India, the United States and Canada, supported from Sydney and through in-market partners. What makes Orisent different?

Orisent designs, builds and supports systems that make high-risk workplaces measurably safer, with every decision starting from the people on site.

  • Wireless, so the safety system keeps up with the site. Orisent systems are wireless and modular, engineered to deploy in hours and move as the site evolves.
  • Self-managed, with no specialist installers. Site teams deploy, relocate and manage the system themselves. Most systems are operational the same day the equipment arrives.
  • We design it, test it and manage the manufacturing. Every device is built to our specification and quality standards, not white-labelled from someone else’s design. When a customer calls, they reach the people who designed the product, and tailored configurations are a normal request rather than an exception.
  • Built for full site coverage. Every device extends the proprietary RF mesh network, so coverage strengthens as devices are added, from basements and tunnels to remote camps and dense structures.
  • Site feedback shapes the roadmap. Remote evacuation triggering, now standard across the platform, started as a customer request. Requests like this are often made available to every site, not just the one that asked.
  • Built into the systems sites already run. Integrations with HammerTech, Procore, Mitti (SafetyCulture) and Irongate Solutions, plus an open approach to third-party integration.

How does Orisent innovate?

Orisent’s features come from site feedback, not a roadmap built in isolation. When Orisent brought its first systems to market, ten construction companies took part in early prototype deployments, running the systems on live sites and feeding back what worked. Site personnel at one of those projects asked for the ability to trigger a full evacuation directly from the mobile app being introduced, not just from a physical trigger or the touchscreen control unit. That request became a standard feature every Orisent customer now uses, one of many product decisions shaped by that early group.

More recently, a customer asked for the same capability through a different channel, triggering a full site evacuation remotely via the web-based user portal. The feature was built, tested on live systems over three to four weeks, and rolled out. It’s now standard across the platform too.

That kind of turnaround only happens because Orisent designs and controls its own hardware and software. A request like that goes straight to the team that wrote the code, not into a queue waiting on someone else’s release schedule. Smaller changes can ship in a day; bigger ones take weeks, sometimes longer depending on complexity. Ideas that start as one customer’s request often get put to the wider client base and rolled out platform-wide, so the next site with the same problem doesn’t have to ask.

Has Orisent won awards for its safety technology?

Orisent won the Australian Technologies Competition in 2024 in the Disaster and Emergency Management category, and was a finalist in the same competition in 2020. In 2025 Orisent was named a finalist in the Australian Financial Review Most Innovative Companies list for Property, Construction and Transport. In 2026 Orisent was a finalist for the Intersec Best Safety Protection Solution and Best Active Fire Safety Product awards, and for EcoTrail at Big 5 Construct Saudi. Earlier recognition includes Highly Commended in the SafeWork NSW Awards in 2020 for COVID-19 response, and a finalist place in the Australian Construction Awards in 2019 for Health and Safety Solution of the Year.

People at Orisent have been recognised individually as well. Core capabilities

Software development

Firmware, the mobile app and the web portal are all designed and built in-house. Because the same team owns the whole stack, a small fix can ship in a day and a bigger feature in a few weeks, without waiting on a third-party vendor’s release schedule.

Hardware development

New devices are prototyped and tested in-house at Alexandria. Every device is built to Orisent’s own specification and quality standards, not white-labelled from someone else’s design.

Tailored client solutions

Each system is designed around a site’s layout, emergency plan and risk profile before it ships, and tailored configurations remain a normal request rather than an exception once a site is live.

Customer-driven roadmap

Features start as real site requests, not a roadmap built in isolation. Once built and tested, they roll out to every customer on the platform, not just the one who asked.
